Ground Beef and Tomato Soup

Ingredients
1/2 lbs ground beefAbout 6 carrots chopped, depending on preferenceAbout 4 stalks celery chopped, depending on preference1 onion, diced1 can beef broth1 large (28 oz) can diced tomatoessmall garlic clove or 1/2 tsp garlic powder1/2 tsp thyme1/4 tsp basil1 bay leafpepper to tastegarlic salt to taste
Directions
Brown beef in frying pan. Once brown add diced onion (and garlic if using fresh) and cook till tender. Put all ingredients and spices into crock pot and let cook 3-4 hours on high. Great with sourdough. Serves about 6

    Used 3 large carrots instead of 6 and 3 stalks of celery instead of 4 with all the rest of the ingredients and made it on top of the stove, simmered it for 1.5 hours it was incredibly delicious! - 2/10/09
