Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ingredients
1 C butter1 C Shortening1 C brown sugar1/4 c unsweetened applesauce1/2 tsp salt1 1/2 tsp baking soda2 tsp vanilla extract1 1/2 C wheat flour1 1/2 C white flour2/3 C oats2 C chocolate Chips
Directions
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Spray cookie sheets with nonstick spray. In large mixing bowl combine butter (softened) with brown sugar and shortening. Measure applesauce in 1/2 CUP DRY MEASURING CUP. Add and mix well. Add salt, baking soda, and vanilla. Mix well. In a separate bowl, mix wheat and white flour with spoon. Sift mixed flour into applesauce mixture a little at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in 2/3 cup oats and chocolate chips. Refrigerate for one hour. Drop by rounded teaspoons on cookie sheet. Bake in preheated oven for 12 minutes until edges are brown. Let cookies set (cool) on sheets for five minutes before removing with metal spatula to wax paper to completely cool.
