8 cups shreded cabbage1/2 cup vinegar1/2 cup oil1/2 cup sugar4 tb celery saltThe longer it sits the better it tastes
Directions
boil sugar oil and vinegar for 3 minutes. pour hot liquid over cabbage and onion. Salt with the celery salt to taste. Enjoy

    We make this version with red, green and yellow bell peppers added with red onions. We layer it then pour on heated mixture and weigh to down with plate on top to "cure". We use less sugar too. Put it in a canning jar after to store. Love this recipe. Thanks. - 8/31/08

    Really tasty and tangy.
    The onions are missing from the ingredients list though.
    I added a tsp of fennel to the dressing while it was heating. Scales up well for a pot luck too. - 3/31/11
