Just made this for dinner, and--WOW!! I made it in my mini-loaf pans so that serving sizes were their own little loaf (who doesn't love that?) and it cooked for less than 1/2 the time. Great texture and such a multi-layered flavor! A new FAVORITE!! Thank you so much for posting! - 1/16/12

Very tasty. I used egg substitute instead of flaxseed. - 9/24/11

There are tons of ketchup brands without high fructose corn syrup. Just sayin'. - 3/15/10

Delicious recipe! Thank you for sharing!

PJUNEAUVOGEL: The flax seeds work as an egg replacer. If you decreased the amount, this may have been why your loaf was crumbly. Better to add the recommended amount of flax than to add an egg which adds a significant amount of cholesterol. - 2/18/09

Love the recipe and the texture is perfect. I may add some grated veggies later. - 6/12/17

This recipe was delicious. My husband liked it better than "real meatloaf" I would have preferred to hearty it up with some veggies maybe some carrots onions and zukes or summer squash. I will definitely make this again maybe as "meatballs" - 5/10/12

Made this recipe according to the directions and it was excellent! Although next time I think I'll follow PJUNEAUVOGEL's tip and try sasla instead of ketchup, just to cut out the sugar. It tastes less like a beef-loaf and more like a chicken-pork-loaf, which was just fine and very yummy! - 3/17/11

Decrease amount of flax as they are high in calories. The loaf was a little crumbly, may want to try adding an egg or egg substitute, may want to replace ketcup with salsa. - 3/3/08

This was a really good recipe. I used water instead of vegetable broth and it came out great! Next time I would not use ketchup as I know there is a lot of sugar. I would use tomato sauce or puree. - 8/3/20

Made this recipe using TSP granules, tomato sauce instead of catsup, liquid aminos instead of tamari, and a meatloaf seasoning packet instead of the spices. Turned out pretty good, and will be making it again. - 11/17/14

For my meat loving husband, I substituted beef broth for veg broth. He likes it! Now I will see about my children. Will make again and again. - 11/14/11

This was the first time I used TVP, but I thought this was less than incredible. Maybe cold it will make a good sandwich, I'll try tomorrow. I couldn't figure out what the topping was supposed to be so I mixed everythng together. - 9/17/10

Am I missing something? What is the topping? Thanks! - 3/16/10

Excellent, excellent, excellent! I left out the flax and used an egg instead. It's a hit! - 3/8/10

I left out the flax to lower the fat, used Bragg's liquid aminos instead of tamari, omitted the ketchup due to high fructose corn syrup, used fresh herbs, and used Ener g egg replacer as a binder, and flavored mine with curry :-) MMMM good! I also added finely minced onions, carrots and celery. - 9/13/09

Mine stuck together well, although I left out the ketchup due to the High Fructose Corn Syrup. I used a glass baking dish and packed it in ALOT. The texture turned out nicely, and my husband enjoyed it. - 4/9/09

I doubt the author will add egg, as the whole point is for it to be vegan. I actually made something like this recently and their advice to make it stick together was to put half of it through a food processor, which did make it stick together pretty well. - 10/21/08
