Carob Brownies - Vegeweigh

Ingredients
Bars3/4 c dates, pitted3/4 c water3 Tb carob powder2 Tb oil---3/4 c whole wheat pastry flour 3/8 c chopped nutspinch saltIcing3/4 c dates, pitted1/2 c boiling water2 TB carob powder1 t postum powder2 t vanilla2 T cornstarchpinch salt
Directions
Microwave the dates in water (as listed)

Whiz first list ingredients in VitaMix until smooth.
Mix into dry ingredients.
Spread into 8x8 pan and bake 350 for 12-15 min until done.


***If no VitaMix
- use date butter instead of whole dates and eliminate the boiling water. May have to add a little water to the batter...depends on the moistness of the date butter.


For Icing using date butter / no vitamix.

Mix all ingredients and simmer until thick pudding-like consistency.

Whiz second list ingredients In Vitamix until thick.
3-6 minutes

Use as icing on cooled brownies.
