I made this last night but was only going to have 7 hours to cook it. I put it on for 6 hours at low and my crockpot automatically goes to keep warm. I also added 1 tsp vanilla for cooking and then added chopped pecans to serve. No sweetner was needed. This is the best overnight oatmeal i've had - 9/20/14

I have been making this every 2 or 3 days for about 2 weeks. I add a 1/4 C pure maple syrup while cooking, but otherwise... My 2 year old devours it happily and so do I - I could live on it! - 3/13/10

I needed to use some apples up and this was a great recipe to try. I cooked it on high in my crock pot and it was done in about 2 hours. I did add a tsp. of regular syrup and added nuts prior to eating it. I thought it was really good. Great breakfast oatmeal idea. Thanks! - 2/15/10

I love this recipe! I made it with pears instead of apples (just because I had a bunch at home) and with almond milk (instead of regular) -- turned out great. Even my husband who normally does not like oatmeal loved it. - 1/23/12

The mix of flavors was perfect! I did not need to add any sweetener. I thought 1 TBLS of cinnamon was a misprint but since no one else commented on it, I went with it and it was just fine. My preference is for a creamier oatmeal so next time will try adding more liquid. It is very filling. - 3/3/11

10 hours on warm in my crockpot was too long. One side is burnt. The rest tastes great though. I think I'll just cook this during the day an refrigerate then microwave when I want some. Nice, healthy breakfast! - 1/5/15

Yummy, and easily adaptable to different tastes with the addition of fruit, nuts, greek yogurt, syrups ... the possibilities seem endless! - 9/16/10

We have found a timer works well for overnight steel cut oats in a crockpot. 6.5 hours seems to be the sweet time to reduce burning and sticking, but still get well cooked oatmeal. We just put in water and oats (no greasing). In the morn, we add splenda, cinnamon, + sometimes dried fruit or nuts. - 4/29/10

This recipe was absolutely delicious! It really crusted on the outside, so I may try more greasing than the spray! Even the crusty part was good, though! Yum! - 4/29/10
