Tomato and Corn Soup with Wild Rice

2-1/2 cups prepared wild rice3/4 cup chopped white onion (1/2 large onion)1 tbsp olive oil1 (14oz) can diced tomatoes (no salt added)1 (14oz) can tomato sauce1 (14oz) can corn, drained (no salt added)1 (14oz) can black beans, drained1 (small) can green chilesdash - kosher salt1-1/2 tsp ground black pepper1 tsp cumin1/2 tsp cayenne pepper (or to taste)*vegetable broth as needed*
Prepare wild rice according to package instructions.
In a small saucepan, over medium heat, combine onion with olive oil and salt, heat until tender(3-5 minutes).
Add diced tomatoes and sauce, bring to simmer.
Add additional canned ingredients (corn, beans, chiles) and spices (pepper, cumin, cayenne) bring to simmer again.
Add prepared rice, combine thoroughly, if consistency is too thick, thin with vegetable broth.
Excellent with cornbread on the side for dipping.
