Open-Faced Pizza Burgers

1 1/2 pounds ground beef1/4 C chopped onion1 (15 oz) can pizza sauce1 (4 oz) can mushroom stems and pieces, drained1 T sugar6 hamburger buns, split and toasted1 1/2 C shredded mozzarella cheese
In a large skillet, cook beef and onion over medium heat until the meat is no longer pink; drain. Stir in pizza sauce, mushrooms, sugar, and oregeno; mix well. Spoon onto buns; sprinkle with cheese. Place on ungreased baking sheets. Broil 4 in. from the heat for 2 minutes or until the cheese is melted.
Can freeze for later use. Place the split and toasted buns on a baking sheet. Spoon meat mixture onto buns; freeze for 1 hour. Transfer to heavy-duty resealable plastic bags or airtight containers. To reheat, thaw, sprinkle with cheese and broil until cheese is melted.
