My Beef Barley Vegatable Soup

12 oz bottom round beef cut in 1 inch cubes1/2 cup pearl barley 10 cups water1 1/2 cups chopped carrots1 1/2 cups chopped celery2 tsp salt1/2/ tsp fennel seed1/4 tsp ground pepper1 1/2 cups baby lima beans2 cups sliced mushrooms
In 5 quart sauce pan,spray with pam and brown cubed beef. Add water and barley. Bring to boil and skim off foam if any. Add carrots, onion, celery, salt, fennel, and pepper. Simmer covered 45 minutes. Add mushrooms and lima beans. Cook for 15 to 20 more minutes until tender. Makes 6 2- cup servings at 240 calories each or 120 calories for one cup
