    I do this without sugar.
Cabbage apples and onions are sweet, we find the addition of the sugar spoils it. I like to add some dark green too, it enhances the color and nutrition I always use a tenderloin for this, just my modifications. I am diabetic and rarely use any sugar. Thanks for the recipe. - 2/16/13

Made the recipe exactly as written. Was very quick, easy and delicious. I feel that it actually makes more than four servings if you eat a moderate sized portion and serve with a side. Served with naan bread at one meal and with brown rice at another meal. Definitely adding to my go-to recipes list. - 7/14/15

This was easy and delicious! Even my very picky son enjoyed the flavor of the meat (as long as the cabbage and apples were not on his plate!!) - 1/30/12

Very easy, and tasty. I did replace the sugar with Splenda Granulated, (Diabetic house hold), so I'm not sure if it was a little sweet because of the substitution, or if this is just a sweet recipe. I will definitely make this again. - 7/29/11

This recipe makes 4 servings, so just take your yield when it's done cooking and divide it into 4 equal servings. :) Actual serving size can vary slightly so I find this is the best way for me.

Excellent slow cooker meal! I used a whole head of cabbage, and doubled the apple cider, spice, used 1/4 c. sugar and about 1/8 c. splenda. Thanks for the recipe! - 3/7/10

I probably did something wrong. I used apple cider viegar and it totally overpowered the cabbage. I tried to doctor it up but couldn't save it. I don't think I'll be trying this recipe again. Gave it a 3 star because I didn't make it right lol - 8/1/18

This was so simple and delicious. I also skipped the sugar and used tenderloin. I did have to add a little water because even on low my crock-pot almost burned the cabbage. It was so good I almost couldn't stop eating it. :) - 1/28/18

No stars! Ew! I have learned my lesson-don't do pork in the crock pot! This was a disgusting mush! I wish I knew what I do wrong to pork-second pork crock pot recipe that was horrible... - 8/24/15

We really enjoyed this...I used lean pork loin, substituted an orange for one of the apples and left out the sugar completely. Next time, I may add some carrots. The fruit and cabbage release plenty of liquid. This is a keeper! - 4/15/15
