Light Fettuccine Alfredo

Ingredients
1 med onion, chopped1 clove garlic, minced2 tsps vegetable oil2 cups skim milk1 cup chicken broth3 tbsp all-purpose flour1/2 tsp salt1/4 tsp black pepper1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese16 oz dry whole wheat fettuccine pasta
Directions
In a medium sauce pan, heat oil over medium heat.
Add onion and garlic. Saute' until golden brown.
In a sauce pan, stir together milk, chicken broth, flour, salt and pepper over low heat until smooth and thick.
Stir into onion mixture. Continue to cook over medium-low heat.
Stirring frequently until the sauce is thick.
Stir in Parmesan cheese, meanwhile cook pasta in lightly salted boiling water.
Cook until pasta is al dente.
Drain pasta and transfer to a large bowl toss with sauce and serve.
