Ground Turkey Chili

Ingredients
*Mazola, Canola Oil, 2 tbspOnions, raw, .5 cup, choppedGarlic, 1 cloveGround Turkey, 1 unit, yield from 1 lb rawYellow Mustard, 9 tsp or 1 packetSalt, 1 tspPepper, red or cayenne, .25 tspChili powder, 3 tbsp*Cumin seed, 2 tbspCanned Tomatoes, 2 canBeans, red kidney, 2.25 cup
Directions
Place oil in a large heavy pan. When hot, saute the onions and garlic until tender. Add the ground turkey and stir, when slightly cooked add mustard, salt, cayenne, chili powder and cumin. Mix well and add the tomatoes. Cover and simmer for 45 minutes. Add the beans with their liquid and cook uncovered for 15 minutes.

    Instead of frying to onions in canola, I cook in the turkey grease and drain thereby reducing the amount of fat and then add the seasonings and tomatoes,etc. Very good recipe. - 7/8/10
