* *channa dal, 0.25 cup * Onions, raw, .5 cup, chopped * Red Ripe Tomatoes, 1 medium whole (2-3/5" dia) * *bottle gourd, 3 cup * Water, tap, 2 cup (8 fl oz) * Sunflower Oil, 1 tbsp * *garam masala, 1 tsp * *ground tumeric, 1 tsp * *1/2 tsp. Cumin Powder, 1 serving * *Sambar Paste, .5 tbsp * *coriander powder, 1 serving * *Curry Leaves (4/6 Leaves), 1 serving * *fresh red chilli, 1 serving
Soak the channa dal for 15 minutes and after that pressure cook it with onion, tomato, 1/2 cup of water and a little salt for four whistles
After that remove it from heat and add the peeled and chopped Bottle Gourd into the above mixture and again pressure cook it for one whistle in medium heat.
# Then open the lid and let it simmer on medium heat .
# Heat oil in a pan and add the seasonings. After the seeds sputter, put this seasonings (Masalas) in the above bottle gourd mixture.
# Boil the mixture till it becomes thick in consistency or until the water goes off and then remove from heat.
