Mimi's Apple Pie

Ingredients
5 Granny smith apples4 Canned Pear Halves1 tsp Vanilla Extract1 Tbsp Brown Sugar1 cup Granulated Sugar2 Tbsp Plain white flour1 tspCinnamonButter2 Pie crusts
Directions
In the bottom of a pastry lined pie pan spread 3 or 4 halves of crushed canned pears. Sprinkle 1 tsp of water, vanilla and brown sugar over them and mix in. (Modification from the 2 Tbs of dark rum previously used)

Dice 4 to 6 firm apples (granny smith). Add 1 cup sugar mixed w/ 2 Tbsp flour and 1/2-1 tsp cinnamon to the apples. Mix it all well and heap over the pears in the pie pan.

Dot generously with butter and cover with the top crust. Bake 10 m at 450, then 45-55m at 350.
