This sounds sooo good but I can't make it. Not that I have any allergies or don't have the tools. I LOVE NUTELLA! I buy it for my son under the condition he hides it well in his room. If I make this, I'll eat it all. I HAVE NO CONTROL somedays. Maybe I'll use 10 chocolate chips and 10 almonds. - 2/7/11

I made 4 jars of this last night! Two simple ingrediants, Nutella is made with moidfied palm oil that can spike bad cholesterol levels more than trans fats do. I am going to make more for Valentine gifts! Thanks for sharing - 2/11/11

The almonds ground up fine, but not like butter. Added only half dark chocolate and then it had the buttery consistency. Spread on top of pumpkin muffins and I had a delightful treat - used a teaspoon on a mini muffin. MMMmmm Good. Made about 3/4 cup. - 2/20/11

It was good. I had to add a little oil. But the amount of choc chips convinced me that it's way too close to candy. I am going back to peanut butter. Nutella (or this) could trigger a sugar binge. If you CAN handle it, try it -- it was good. - 2/7/11

My husband has a Nutella thing, too. Try Justin's Chocolate Hazelnut Butter, delicious, not as sweet as Nutella or this recipe and healthier. (Definitely a relative term.) Both are trigger foods for me, however, and cooking this recipe would be Death by Nibbles. Do try to Justin's to avoid this! - 11/17/11

Delicious! I put a few blobs in the freezer to see how it would do as a candy substitute (that's how good it is!) and if it works, i'll use a candy mold next time. I doubled the recipe and used darker chocolate (60% chips) and will probably half the chocolate next time. Amazing! - 2/21/11

I am going to try this using sugar free chocolate chips that I found made by Hershey's!!! - 2/14/11

I'm curious how well this holds up in the fridge. Would you say it will expire after some time, or can it be refrigerated for a long period of time and stay good? Thanks for sharing the recipe. I also love Nutella - it's like frosting to me - but it's TOO good that I'll binge on it. - 2/7/11

It can be refrigerated for several weeks.

Interesting, but 1 TBSP Nutella has 100 calories, 5.5 grams fat, 1.8 grams saturated fat, 8 grams sodium, 11 grams of carbohydrates, 0.5 grams fiber, and 1.5 grams protein. So, I don't see where this recipe is better than the original. Nutella's website says there's no hydrogenated oils.

This recipe conveniently forgets to list sugar and saturated fat. Tollhouse Semisweet Chips have 8g of sugar & 2.5g saturated fat in EACH 1 Tbsp. The calorie count is EXACTLY the same as for Nutella (1 Tbsp=100 calories). No wonderful health benefits here. Shame on you for omitting data. - 9/6/12

i made mine with hazelnuts and 50% cocoa dark chocolate chips!

Mix this with some granola (1/3 ratio butter to granola) and drop golf ball sized mounds on some wax or parchment paper. Throw it in the fridge for about 5-10 minutes and you have a yummy grab and go snack. I sometimes toss in some shredded coconut to make it like haystack cookies. Super yummy! - 2/20/12

Also going to point out that 1 serving of this is 1 tablespoon and 1 serving on Nutella is 2 tablespoons. I will agree it is probably a cleaner food? Depending on the choco chips used. Kinda bummed after evaluating nutrition info. - 9/6/12

No. This has MORE calories than Nutella. Nutella has 100 calories in a tablespoon, and this has 100.6 calories. Also there are way more than 2 ingredients. Have you looked at the ingredients in a package of chocolate morsels? This recipe is very misleading. - 11/7/12

STEPF made some of this for me and it was awesome! - 2/2/11

Made my version with Whole Foods freshly ground almond butter and Enjoy Life! chocolate chips! Awesome. Hit that sweet spot! I almost added cocoa instead of the chips, as the cocoa would cut down on calories, but went with Enjoy Life! instead. - 7/3/12

Absolutely delicious. It really satisfies when you need a treat. I make it with dark chocolate. A little goes a long way. Yummy! - 2/8/11

i really liked this and had fun making it.

also to the person commening before me, yes it is about the same calorie count, but has way less sugar, and way less sodium.
also has less fat among other things so this is still better for you overall. - 5/17/12

I made this with pecans and ghiradelli, because it's what I had. It's dangerously tempting! It's gritty like natural nut butter but didn't need oil; Just be patient with the food processor. I want to put it on waffles, toast, pears, ice cream, and in a latte. I'm excited to try it on everything! - 2/8/11

This is excellent! I was skeptical because it looked like it was going to be too dry, but when I added the chocolate it all worked out! This is a nice little treat to have around. - 4/3/12

Amazing! made it last night and the old me would have eaten the whole jar! But I am excited to try it on steel cut oats, and bananas! - 2/8/11

This says that each serving is one rounded tablespoon and that there is one hundred and one calories per serving. That means the small dish pictured above has about 1,000 calories. - 10/10/12

I love nutella, also. This helps! I added fewer chips for fewer calories! I appreciate the recipe being less processed than nutella. - 8/12/12
