Ingredients
Directions
All Purpose Flour, King Arthur, 3 tbspSmart Balance Buttery Spread, 3 tbspMilk, 2%, 4 cupCrab Classic, Chunk Style, TransOcean (2-12oz pkgs), 8 servingParmesan Cheese, grated, .25 cupGarlic powder, 2 tbspOnion powder, 1 tspPepper, black, 2 tspHealthy Harvest Whole Wheat Blend Pasta Penne Rigate, 12 oz
Start a pot of water for the pasta, keeping the heat at medium.
Then, heat a large skillet over medium high heat for about 5 minutes. Microwave butter and flour together in a cup for 20 seconds, then stir with a spoon until blended.
Microwave milk for approximately 3 1/2 minutes, until hot. While the milk is in the microwave, put the flour and butter mixture in the heated pan and turn several times with a spatula. Do not allow the mixture to scorch.
Gradually pour the heated milk into the skillet, stirring often with a wisk until there are no lumps. Increase heat to high, so that the mixture is near a boil. When the first bubbles appear, turn the heat down to medium low.
Turn the heat under the pot of water up to high, and add the pasta. Cook until al dente.
Whisk the parmesan cheese and spices into the white sauce. Fold in the imitation crabmeat in small amounts using the spatula. When the pasta is done, fold it into the white sauce mixture.
Makes 8 - 1 1/2 cup servings.
