Gnocci with Simple Bolegnese

Ingredients
1/4 EVOO1 medium onion, chopped2 garlic cloves, crushed1 celery stalk, coarsely chopped1 carrot coarsely chopped1 pound light ground chuck1 28 oz can whole peeled tomatoes8 fresh basil leaves choppedsalt and black pepper2 lbs. gnocci
Directions
sweat onions and garlic in EVOO. add carrot and celery and sweat for 10 additional minutes. brown ground beef. add tomatoes. Season with salt and pepper to taste. add basil. Cook for 30 minutes.

Cook gnocci in boiling salted water. Add to sauce pan and mix. Sprinkle with pecorino romano.
