Knockoff Starbucks Green Tea Frappucino
- Minutes to Prepare:
- Number of Servings: 1
Ingredients
Directions
-Loose green tea powder (not leaves, powder) ...OR 2 or 3 green tea bags-1 scoop of vanilla protein powder-1 cup of ice (or a little more)-2 tbsp of Half & Half (or heavy whipping cream if you want)-1/2 cup almond milk (or lowfat milk)-3 packets of Stevia or Truvia (or another sugar substitute--may need more or less depending on which kind)-Sugar free Cool Whip (optional)-Sugar free lime jello (optional but recommended)
Super easy to make if you have a Magic Bullet or other single-serve, drink-in-blending-cup blender, but if you don't, I'm sure you can use that gigantic caveman-era blender you do have.
I buy Machta powdered green tea to make these--it's fantastic, but supposedly pricey...however, the box I bought on Amazon.com ($18.99 for 4 oz) will make 100 of these green tea fraps, so it's really not that expensive...about 19 cents per frappucino. However, if you just don't want to buy that stuff, you can use 2 or 3 green tea bags to make this recipe. BUT, it's not quite as yummy, and doesn't have that nice green color to it unless you put a tsp of sugar-free lime jello in the blender...which I used to do JUST to make it green. Doesn't make it taste weird, either, tastes great.
Here's the tea I buy:

If you have the powdered tea, here's how you make it:
Put half a tsp. of the powder into half a cup of boiling water. Add 3 packets of Stevia (or whatever sugar substitute you use), and stir til blended. Put it in the freezer to cool while you get the rest of the stuff ready.
Put a 1 or 1.5 cups of ice into the blender, and add a scoop of vanilla protein powder. (I use Jay Robb Whey Vanilla because it has no sugar.) Add 2 tbsp of Half & half, half a cup of almond milk (or real milk if you're into that), and pour the cooled tea over it all. Blend. If you want, add 2 tbsp. of sugar free Cool Whip to the top.
If you don't think the drink is quite sweet enough, add 1 tsp of sugar free lime jello.
------
If you want to make this with green tea bags instead of the powder, start the whole process by boiling half a cup of water, and letting 2 or 3 green tea bags steep in the water for 5 minutes. Squeeze them carefully into the cup before removing them. Add the sugar substitute and cool in the freezer. The rest of the recipe is the same, except you definitely need the tsp. of sugar free lime jello in order to make it green.
------
If you make this recipe using the skinny ingredients (Half & Half instead of whipping cream, almond milk instead of cow's), and Jay Robb protein powder instead of one that contains sugar, the nutrition info is as follows:
