Hot Stovetop Oatmeal

Ingredients
1/2 cup rolled oats (not instant!)1 cup water1/8 tsp salt2 tsp jam1/8 cup chopped almonds
Directions
In a small pot with a tight fitting lid, bring oats, water, and salt to a boil.
Lower heat and continue to cook for 5 minutes, stirring constantly.
Remove from heat and ad the jam, cover and let sit for 2-3 minutes.
Serve sprinkled with the nuts. Add fresh seasonal fruit if you wish.
Makes one serving.

    I often make oatmeal from scratch and now I'll add a couple of teaspoons of jam to get a subtle flavour boost with added nutrition given that I use no added sugar jam! - 6/17/11
