Ingredients
Directions
Half an avacado1 can good quality sardines, ideally in olive oil. You'll want to drain them of the majority of the oil, but leave a little because it'll add a little extra fishyness to the sauce when you're done.2 slices good whole wheatOlive oil - You could leave this out and just use more of the olive oil in the can but I prefer to use some of my own since I'm sure the oil I buy is better than what's used to pack the sardines.Vinegar (cider or rice, i've tried a good balsamic and it gets largely lost)Lemon zestSalt/pepperI like hot sauce, ideally something more robust and not too vinegary/sour as the lemon/vinegar will take care of that
toast the bread, toss the sardines in the olive oil and vinegar with some salt/pepper (and a personal favorite; hot sauce) ideally substitute the lemon juice for some lemon zest, smoosh the avocado onto the bread and top with the sardines and remaining sauce.
