Ingredients:*Shortening, Crisco, 10 tbsp *Maseca Instant Corn Masa Mix, 908 gram(s) Ground beef, extra lean, 454 gramsGarlic, 3 cloves Onions, raw, 1 medium (2-1/2" dia) Beef broth, bouillon, consomme, 12 gramsPepper, black, 1 tbsp Bay Leaf, 1 tsp, crumbled *chilli, 1 cup *Leavening agents, baking powder, low-sodium, 1 tsp Salt, 1 tsp
In a large pot add hot water and submerge cornhusks in it until they get tender. Aside sautee meat, minced garlic, bay leaf, salt, black pepper and minced onion. Once meat is cook add chilli paste and boil the mixture. To make masa add approximately 2 cups of hot water to maseca instant corn masa and make a dough (add more hot water as needed). Cream the vegetable shortening and add baking powder, next add beef broth buouillion consome and incorporate the corn masa until all ingredients are blended.
In a corn husk add 1/4 cup of masa and 2 tbsp of shredded beef, fold the corn husk and make the rest, when finished steam the tamales for 90 minutes in a medium high flame, serve.
