Ingredients
12 cups stock or water3 cups yellow split peas2 onions, minced4 cloves garlic, minced1 bay leaf2 t salt1 t dried mustard5 carrots sliced3 potatoes, diced4 stalks celery, minced
Directions
combine stock,peas,salt,mustard, and bay leaf in lg pot.
bring to boil, simmer 20 min. Prep veggies. Saute in 1 T o.o. Add to peas. Simmer additional 40 min

    Delicious! I made mine with chicken stock, because that's what I had frozen and being vegetarian wasn't a concern for me, but veg stock would work just as well. The additional veggies in this soup add a lot of character to the basic split pea, I didn't even miss the idea of ham! - 1/4/12
