Ingredients
1 bunch of Swiss chard 1 Tbsp. olive oil3 cloves garlic2-3 shallots, chopped (Or, if you’d like, sub in a couple of onions)1/2 cup vegetable broth
Directions
1. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet or sauté pan, and chop the garlic and shallots.
2. Cook the garlic and shallots until soft. While they’re cooking, chop up the chard a rough chop is really all that’s needed.
3. Add the chopped chard stems to the garlic and shallots and begin to let it soften. Then begin adding the leaves, letting them wilt before adding the next handful. Use a lid on the pan, if that helps.
4. About halfway through adding all the chard, pour in enough broth to moisten everything and make it saucy. You want about 1/8 inch of broth in the bottom of your pan.
5. Continue sautéing the chard and letting the broth cook down until the broth coats the chard-shallot-garlic mixture.
6. Parmesan and salt and pepper to taste. (Parm not included in calorie count)

I used this recipe and I added some sundried tomatoes, and 3 oz of shrimp. Great Recipe! - 10/31/10

First time making greens. Fantastic recipe!! I used two onions, chopped. Also added lean turkey sausage to the onions and garlic. This gave greens a nice smokey taste. Also added seasoning midway through for added flavor: oregano, adobo, black pepper and white wine vinegar. Will make again!! - 1/8/09

This is such a yummy recipe! I used cider instead of broth, added some celery slices and red pepper to the onion and garlic and used shredded cheese instead of parmesan as the garnish. Thanks - 10/28/12

I have always been a lover of spinach, but I saw some really nice looking chard at the store that I thought I would make something out of it. I found your recipe, and it turned out delicious! I never knew chard could taste so good. - 10/17/09

A great way to get your greens! I had to sub onion for shallots and didn't have enough chard so I used half spinach, and that still worked wonderfully. Also I just put in all the greens and then put in the broth, that worked fine. - 1/9/09

I seriously thought I would hate this dish. I hate greens. I prepared it, and it's wonderful! I made it along with chicken rice, and it's a perfect pair! Thanks for adding this recipe! - 10/11/08

Great fundamental preparation for this rather bland but healthy green. As comments have shown, it lends itself to lots of embellishments. - 8/2/11

Really tasty and very simple to make. Think I used too many onions, so 1/2 medium onion is enough. - 4/9/11
