Savory breakfast casserole

1/2 loaf of French or Italian bread, cut into 1" slices2 Tbsp butter1 garlic clove5 eggsEntire container of egg beaters (7 eggs' worth)8 oz Italian sausage2 oz shredded asiago cheese1/4 tsp salt1/2 tsp pepper1/2 c milk4 green onions, minced
Combine butter & minced garlic clove in mini food processor. Smear garlic butter on slices of bread, squish in 9" square pan. Cook sausage, drain, sprinkle on top. Mix: eggs, egg beaters, butter, green onions, salt & pepper, 1/2 of shredded cheese. Pour onto casserole, holding bread down to absorb liquid.
Bake, covered with foil, at 375 for 30 min. Remove foil, bake 20 extra minutes, then remove & let stand 10 minutes.
