Sweet & Spicy Green Beans and Carrots

Ingredients
2 tbsp. Texas PeteŽ Hotter Hot Sauce 1 cup chopped carrots 1/2 lb. green beans, chopped 2 slices bacon, chopped 1 medium onion, sliced in half-moons 1 apple, sliced in half-moons 1 tbsp. brown sugar 1/2 tsp. salt Pepper to taste
Directions
Blanch the carrots and green beans until nearly tender. Strain and set aside. In a large skillet, cook the bacon until nearly crisp. Add in the onions and cook until translucent and soft. Add in the apple, Texas PeteŽ Hotter Hot Sauce, sugar, salt and pepper. Cover and cook until apples are tender, 3-4 minutes. Stir in the beans and carrots; heat through and serve immediately.

    I used the Louisiana hot sauce I had on hand and added half the amount based on others' comments. This was really delicious. The little bit of sweet mixed with the salty bacon was a great complement to the veggies. I will try with other veggie combinations too. - 9/1/15

    Apple and hot sauce in this recipe isn't something my family likes. I would use turkey bacon and add a variety of peppers sliced and some sliced mushrooms and leave out the brown sugar, too. :-( - 8/31/15
