Nana's Macaroni and Cheese

Ingredients
8 oz Elbow Macaroni3 Tbsp butter or margarine3 Tbsp flour¼ tsp salt1/8 tsp pepper1 ½ C milk2 C grated American cheese1 C fresh bread crumbs2 Tbsp melted butter or margarine½ tsp paprika
Directions
Cook and drain elbow macaroni. Melt butter over low heat. Blend in flour and seasonings. Gradually add milk, stirring until sauce thickens. Add cheese and stir until melted. Add cooked macaroni and mix. Pour into greased 1 ½ quart casserole. Toss bread crumbs with melted butter and paprika. Sprinkle over top of macaroni. Bake uncovered in preheated oven at 375 degrees for 25 minutes or until browned and bubbly. Make six servings.

    Based on other's reviews I too left out the breadcrumbs and I didn't bother to bake it - just did it on the stove top. I used the Barilla Plus macaroni for more fiber. It still tasted awesome! - 10/4/10

    I omitted the bread crumbs as well, and it was still awsome! Can't beat a yummy and easy mac n cheese recipe the whole family will eat. Also subbed ww pasta, it was GOOOOD!! - 3/24/09

    This was really awesome! I have made many versions of macaroni & cheese, and this was really creamy and flavorful. The sauce texture was perfect, and this is something I'll definitely make again. I omitted the breadcrumb topping, and instead, topped it with a light sprinkling of parmesan. Yummy! - 11/3/08
