Kielbasa Cabbage Skillet

Ingredients
1 lb fully cooked kielbasa or Polish Sausage, cut into 1/2 in slices4 tbsp butter, divided1 large head of cabbage, coarsely chopped2 med. onions, chopped3 cans(8 oz. each) tomato sauce1/2 cup sugar1 tbsp paprika3-4 large potatoes, peeled and cubed
Directions
In a large deep skillet or Dutch oven, brown the sausage in 2 tbsp butter; remove and set aside. In the same pan, saute the cabbage and onions in remaining butter until onions are tender.
Combine the tomato sauce, sugar and paprika; pour over cabbage mixture. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 20 minutes. Add the potatoes and reserved sausage. Cover and simmer for 30 minutes or until potatoes are tender. Yield 8-10 servings.

    This was a great recipe. I used chopped tomatoes instead of sauce. And I've made it before--NEVER with sugar! Cooking onions brings out a sweetness in the dish without added sweetener! (My potatoes go in with the cabbage! Both are nicely blended w/ the sausage.) - 10/4/15

    My husband likes this even though he's not a big fan of cabbage. It's tasty and very hearty. But, I would add the potatoes earlier because they took to long to soften and they didn't pick up the flavor as well as they should have. - 12/1/12
