Smoky Ham and Lentil Pasta

Ingredients
1 cup raw brown lentils1 large sweet onion, diced1 T olive oil6-8 ounces lean smoked ham, diced1 1/2 cups chicken broth8 ounces raw pasta2 T brown sugar
Directions
1. Bring 4 cups water to boil in medium saucepan. Add lentils and cook until tender, about 20 minutes. Drain and set aside.
2. Add oil to a large skillet, heat, and cook onions on high until well browned and tender, about 15 minutes. Add the ham and cook on high for 2 more minutes until slightly browned. Add the broth and brown sugar, bring to a boil, and boil for 1 minute.
3. Meanwhile, cook the pasta according to package directions. Drain and toss with the onion ham broth mixture and the lentils.

Each serving is about 2 cups.
