Summer No-Cook Oatmeal

(168)
  • Number of Servings: 1
Ingredients
1/2 cup oats1/2 cup milk about 25 raisins1 tsp cinnamon
Directions
This is a great recipe for summer days when you want your fiber but don't want a hot bowl of cereal.

In a bowl mix together oats, milk, raisins, cinnamon. Cover and place in fridge overnight. Enjoy the next morning.

A thick cut oat that soaks up all the milk may be preferable to other varieties, and you may find you need to experiment with different amounts of milk.

AWESOME! I used Vanilla soy milk and exchanged the raisins for 1/6 c. Craisins and added 1 tsp. of sliced almonds. The almonds add 40 calories but going by the labels it actually only totaled 323 calories. - 11/27/08

I do something similar but use steel cut oats, unsweetened vanilla soy milk and leave overnight. I either nuke for about 30 seconds or eat cold, I also add semi-frozen mixed berries. Its pretty yummy. - 6/12/09

I use Old-Fashioned oats and find that it takes no time to soften them. I made it overnight once and it was mush. Now I make it in the morning and it works out really well. Sometimes I add a bit of honey, most times I also add walnuts or pecans. Thanks for posting and sharing this easy meal! - 8/3/09

I have been eating this every morning now, its great! Especially with cut up banana. The calorie content is actually much lower - if you compare the SP nutrition information for oats to that listed on the Quaker Oats container, SP thinks oats have twice the calories that they actually do! - 4/19/08

This is similar to my regular breakfast - sometimes cold, sometimes warm. I "spike" with protein powder, flaxseed meal and whatever dried fruit strikes my fancy. Haven't gotten bored with it after MONTHS!! - 4/19/08

I made this with 1/2 cup Dannon lowfat vanilla yogurt (instead of milk) and 3 - 4 Tbsp of blueberries. It was excellent! - 8/24/09

I often have this with chopped apple or unsweetened applesauce. It's yummy! - 2/5/09

I make a version of this all the time with ff plain yogurt and what ever fruit I have on hand. I use old fashioned rolled oats with it. It is a staple here in the summer. - 4/19/08

Like others, I was a little skeptical -- but made this last night with lowfat yogurt, 1/2 C. frozen mixed berries, and 1/2 C. Old Fashioned Oats. I enjoyed it LOTS this morning -- will probably do it often! May be a good one to try with grandkids, who are coming later this week, too! - 8/3/09

So good! I made it with almond breeze and frozen mango! Not quite the same but I love the cold oatmeal and the raw flavor it had! Delicious! - 3/11/09

I used Soy Slender chocolate milk and pretended it was pudding. - 3/8/09

So good, add Splenda for sweetness. - 4/19/08

I love this! I made it with Vanilla Low-fat soy milk and a chopped apple. I also usually add All-Bran and/or wheat germ to give it more texture and fiber. - 4/24/09

I made this using vanilla soy milk. I tried it cold and decided it was just too much for me to handle so I put it in the microwave for 30 seconds. It turned out very tasty and not sticky. I will be using this recipe again and may even try it with frozen fruit. - 4/20/08

I first tried this in St Lucia and fell in love with it. I have been making it ever since. It is really popular here in Germany. They sell several versions of it at the grocery store. I was not sure about the nutritional value. Thanks for adding it. - 9/2/09

I was skeptical of a cold versionof oatmeal, but I've always poured cold milk over the top of hot oatmeal anyway. I really liked this recipe. It's easy and you can customize it to your liking. I used skim milk, skipped the raisins and added 1 tblsp of brown sugar. - 8/4/08

Not for me, I'm sorry. I made this using skim milk and then I tried it and the texture was just gross. I'm sorry, call me old fashioned but I have to have my oatmeal warm - 7/29/08

Wow... yum! Try chocolate soy milk with this for a twist. Really good! - 4/23/08

I made it and would make it again. I like to add cranberries instead of raisins and blackberries before I actually eat it. - 4/23/08

I really enjoyed this for breakfast. I thought I wouldn't like it because it has no sugar, but I was wrong. The raisins added the perfect amount of sweetness. I will make this often. - 4/20/08

I took some of the suggestions and made this with semi frozen strawberries. I will definitely make this again. - 8/4/09

I made this & I found it to be too much cinnamon and its a texture I'd have to get use too-I used vanilla soy milk & put a banana in instead of raisins-I left it in the fridge for 7 hrs and I'll try longer next time - 5/4/08

Awesome quick breakfast! Added brown sugar instead of cinnamon, and it was great! - 4/29/08

This is soooo yummy and soooo EASY!!!! I made it with fat free milk and without the raisins and it was only 200 calories. Today I am going to try it with cut up banana! I cant wait.

Oh yeah and I have to add that this really keeps you full for a long time!!!!! - 4/29/08
