Ingredients
- 1/4 cup egg beaters- 1/8 cup skim milk- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract- non-stick cooking spray- 2 pieces whole wheat bread
Directions
Heat a skillet sprayed with cooking spray over medium-high heat.

In a shallow bowl/dish, combine the first four ingredients. Mix together well.

Quickly dip the first piece of bread flat in the bowl, letting it soak up the liquid, but not so much that it falls apart. Do this on both sides. Put the bread on the skillet, cooking it on both sides until browned. Repeat this process with the next piece of bread.

Put on a plate and eat! It tastes extra great topped with one of the following: fresh fruit, pure maple syrup, powdered sugar, or whipped cream.

Makes 2 pieces of french toast, or 1 serving.

I made a whole loaf of bread with this recipe. I had 2 slices for breakfast and froze the rest so now I can just grab 2 slices for breakfast anytime. - 6/7/09

I have been making my french toast like this for a while, I use light bread, 2 egg whites, skim milk, almond extact and pumpkin pie spice. I also lightly toast my bread b4 I soak it in the milk mixture and I make a healthy glaze with berries, light yogurt, and a tsp of honey. It always tastes great. - 1/24/09

    very yummy! Loved it!

Some people don't know what they're talking about, the wheat bread is up to the consumer.

I buy Sarah Lee's Whole Grain Delight Wheat Bread (45 calories a slice!)

    Great recipe!

Very good. Made up a larger batch. After cooking put it in the freezer for a quick breakfast. Just pop in the toaster and it's ready. - 4/17/09

I used the 45 calorie per slice Sara lee bread, a regular egg, sliced two strawberries and placed the strawberries on each slice of bread, then topped it all off with 1 tb of pure maple syrup. I didnt use much of the mixture--didnt want soggy bread. I will definitely be making this again- I loved it - 7/13/09

For those of you who are confused on the whole wheat bread, there a lot of whole wheat light breads where they are no more then 120 calories for two slices... this is an awesome recipe. I love french toast! - 1/14/09

I can't believe the calories are right for such a fantastic breakfast! I used Nature's own ww bread and sugar free syrup and just a small sprinkle of powdered sugar for my son. We gobbled these up. Thanks for the recipe!!! - 2/20/09

I made it today for lunch to try it. It was great! My bread is 180 cal for 2 slices of bread. I think I am going to try it next time with alittle more vanilla. Thanks! - 2/23/09

I made this for my family tonight and it was a big hit. Hubby never questioned that it was low fat. I used egg whites instead of Egg Beaters, but next time I go to the store, I will buy some Egg Beaters and then make this again. - 2/5/09

Delicious and easy! I've never made French Toast before, but this recipe made it easy. I made it with whole grain oatmeal bread and even my husband loved it! - 3/8/08

I loved this! I used Nature's Own Double Fiber Whole Wheat Bread (40 cal per slice), and added a little splenda to the egg/milk batter. Once cooked, I topped with a light spreading of smucker's sugar free blueberry jam, and sugar free maple syrup. - 9/8/07

This was surprisingly good. Next time, I will have to look for lighter bread to stay within my caloric limits. This is a great recipe! - 2/20/09

I made 5 slices, and used 5 eggs keeping only 1 yoke. It was my first time making any kind of french toast and it was very good! - 6/3/09

Nice recipe - might need a touch of Splenda to sweeten it up a bit. Overall, a great option to make one of my favorite meals into something healthy! - 5/3/09
