Introduction

A great alternative to the store bought onions. These are more flavorful and free of chemical perservatives. A great alternative to the store bought onions. These are more flavorful and free of chemical perservatives.
Number of Servings: 36

Ingredients

    3 large onions
    2 cups nonfat milk
    2 cups all purpose flour
    salt to taste
    oil for frying

Directions

Slice onions into rings. Soak them in the milk for 5 minutes.


Heat the oil in a large skillet.


Coat the onions with flour.


Fry the onions in the oil. Flip and stir as needed to ensure they brown evenly.


Place on paper towels to soak up the excess oil. Salt to taste.


Store in an air tight container.


Makes about 6 cups. A serving is 2 Tbsp.

  • These are better than the ones in the can.. I soaked mine in Buttermilk for about a hour.. Do not think I will ever buy them in the can again.. Very easy and very good - 12/3/15

  • I LOVE frizzled onions. I consider it a food group on it's own. This recipe is awesome! I cut the recipe down for one. So I used 1/4 of a large onion & I added about 1 1/2 Tbsp of garlic salt to 1 1/2 c of flour. So good!! Feel free to add spices to your flour! I also used light cream, not milk. - 2/27/13
