why does there have to be applesauce? I dont like apples lol - 8/1/09

Hey =) The applesauce is a substitution for oil in this recipe. You cannot taste a difference, but by replacing the oil with applesauce you save an amazing number of calories. 1/2 cup of unsweetened applesauce is 52 calories...1/2 cup of oil is 964 calories!!! Try the recipe, it's worth it!!

sounds great, but how will they turn out if I use sugar instead of Splenda? Idon't use artificial sweeteners. and what would the equivalent be? Thank you. - 9/9/09

You can use sugar instead of splenda. It would take 1/2 cup of sugar because they measure cup for cup. It will increase the calories slightly, but the biggest calorie saver in this recipe is the applesauce.

I like these better than regular peanut butter cookies. I used all sugar, no splenda, but I got quite a few more cookies out of it than I should have so it evened out. They made good sized cookies that were nice and moist and cake-like. Definitely a winner at our house. Thanks for the recipe! - 8/4/10

Made these today and they are very soft and tasty but not the crunchy sort of cookie I was expecting. I ended up making about 40 of them and I think they will taste great with a small serve of jam on top:D Thanks for such a quick and tasty recipe to curb the peanut butter cravings! - 6/15/10

As others have stated, the dough is very thin and cannot be shaped. I made teaspoon sized drop cookies and only came out with 24 cookies. The cookies are cake-like and do not taste enough like peanut butter, to me. I prefer the 3 ingredient peanut butter cookies due to the very peanut butter taste. - 4/13/15

I agree the consistency is not as normal cookies. I added a little more flour after baking half a dozen to begin with as the centers were gooey after 10 minutes so I baked an additional 5, still gooey. Added a little more flour and then baked for 15-18 minutes and they are perfect. - 6/20/14

so my boyfriend is trying to lose weight but i still want to make him one of his favs for valentines day. he love the PB/chocolate combo and hates artificial sweeteners. If i substitute with real sugar and add a hershey kiss -a few more cals wont hurt ;)-will they still be tasty? we shall see - 2/13/13

I made these tonight. I made them exactly as the recipe called for. The batter wasn't tight, but I just did them as drop cookies, instead of into balls. I didn't add flour (extra) because I didn't want to add any extra calories at all. They are really good in my opinion, but no one in my house wil - 10/12/10
