This was VERY easy to make. My first experience with dried beans. I used chicken broth instead of water and added some extra spices (lime, basil & thyme combo). It was delicious. My DH and daughter loved it, too. - 1/13/09

  • This might be a good recipe but these are NOT brazilian beans, I'm brazilian and we would never mix peppers and chicken with beans, the recipe for black beans is called Feijoada e it takes pieces of pork and sausage, a special sausage that we don't have abroad... - 9/8/12

  • Pretty good but a little bland. I added garlic and some black and red crushed pepper. Was very easy to make and very filling. I served mine on a bed of spinach with salsa and a dollop of organic greek plain yogurt (tastes alot like sour cream) - 3/12/11

  • THANK GOODNESS for a recipe that does NOT called for canned cream soups! This was DELICOUS! I added a little lime, lots of garlic and had hot salsa on the side for my husband who has an asbestos mouth. Loved it and will cook it again! - 1/11/11

  • I made this today and tasted it toward the end of cooking. It was a little bland, as others mentioned, but a little chipotle pepper spiced it up nicely! Thank for this recipe! - 8/12/09

  • I tried it today, easy to make, I used large chunks of onion and pepper, I wish I would have thought to add spicey peppers, (as above) it was alittle bland but filling. I'd make again...with zing! Also, 1 serving is prob about 3/4c. also, water just a bean level to start is also enough - 1/8/09

  • This is really easy to make. I have little experience in the kitchen, and this was an easy first recipe. I made it a little spicier by adding some red and black pepper, because intially it was a little bland for my taste. Overall, this is something I will make again! - 11/27/08
