Chef AJ's Black Bean Brownies (VEGAN)

Ingredients
1 15oz can black beans (drained and rinsed)1.5 cups maple or date syrup1/2 cup cocoa powder1 tsp baking powder.5 tsp baking soda1 TBSP Vanilla Extract3/4 cup flour (I used SPELT)1/2 cup choc chips (optional)1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)
Directions
using a food processor - blend beans and maple syrup until smooth
add remaining dry ingredients
pour into 8 x 8 pan
sprinkle with choc chips or nuts (optional)

Bake in 350 degree preheated oven for about 30-35 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean

Serving Size: makes and 8x8 pan

    The recipe is missing the 2 tablespoons of ground flax seeds. I have also cut the sweetener way down to only 1 cup of syrup. I actually use WHOLE dates now, using this recipe: http://foodytv.com/recipe/outrages-brownie

    I had really high hopes for these brownies. Unfortunately the finished product did not live up to my expectations. To begin with they were not fudgy like brownies at all. The texture was more like cake. I think if you pulled them out before the center is set then maybe they would be fudgy. They were - 4/7/12
