It is not helpful to other readers to rate a recipe if you have not actually experienced it. Saying it sounds good or you are going to make it does not provide any feedback on the actual recipe. Posting should be limited to actual reviews after someone has made the recipe. - 4/18/10

I know the title says curried but I don't like curry and just left it out. Soup was still tastey. - 8/18/08

I have often thought another spice, say thyme? or basil? might work instead.

This is a nice soup--it wouldn't all fit into our 4 qt slow cookier, so we cooked it in a slightly larger Dutch oven. - 10/21/08

Hey there 53pinkroses - I would suggest Zuchini or Cauliflower. Potatoes soak up flavor and can dilute a soup, but these veggies would be closer in texture to parsnips. - 8/18/08

Sounds terrific! I'm going to fix a pot for a family who loves healthy food and is expecting a new baby. I love parsnips and there are not many in the super markets. Red lentils really make this sound good. - 8/18/08

Tried this yesterday as we had some friends who like spicy food, and they loved it. Was very tasty lots of flavor and not over bearing hot. - 6/27/21

I made this exactly as the recipe states. It took 3.5 hours on high in the crock pot. I put it in the fridge overnight and pureed it the next day. It has really good flavour but I'm undecided on the texture. Not sure I'd make it again but I'm glad I tried it. - 1/9/13

Excellent. Quick and easy to prepare. A low cost hearty soup all the family will love and low calorie to boot. I did lower the amount of curry powder by half even though my family like spicy food. - 2/23/12

Delicious but definately improved the longer it cooked for to allow all the flavours to come together. - 2/11/12

Absolutely delicious! I used sweet curry powder (the yellow kind), and it complemented the apples + parsnips very nicely. - 11/13/11

hi! anyone has any idea how to make this without a slow cooker? i haven't got one... i thought of just simmering everything in a pot on the stove till the veggies get cooked, but i'm not sure whether it's a good idea and hate throwing away food... - 10/21/11

Interesting! I will server it again. Although the flavours are unusual, the family enjoyed it. - 10/11/11

My husband and I love curry and parsnips but unfortunately he HATES lentils. Can anyone think of an alternative to the lentils? Thanks - 8/22/11

Just a question...I absolutely love curry but have only had it in restaurants. When I buy curry powder, am I supposed to get red, yellow or green? Is there one that is just "curry powder" without a specific color in the food store? Thanks! - 8/22/11

I have not tried this so will not rate it.........I know this makes 14 servings.......but what is the serving size. That would make it so much easier for me, since I cook for one. - 8/21/11

I made this recipe for Christmas with my family, I thought it was very good, turns out my family (including my husband) is not big on curry so I have a lot of leftovers in the freezer. I suggest to start with a much smaller batch unless you know your family will like it. - 1/4/11

So glad you enjoyed it, anyhow! It's a different recipe, for sure. Not everyone likes curry, for sure! I'm just looking over comments here and glad to realize people are still making and enjoying it. :)
