(19)
  • Number of Servings: 1
Ingredients
  • 3 large apples, unpeeled, cored, and sliced thin
  • 1/4 cup raisins
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup walnuts (optional)
  • 3 tablespoons butter, melted
Directions
1. In a large bowl, combine the apples, raisins, sugar, cinnamon and 1 tablespoon of the flour. Stir well to coat the apples with dry ingredients. Transfer mixture to a greased shallow baking dish.

2. In the same bowl, combine the remaining flour, oats, and nuts. Stir in the melted butter or margarine, and mix the ingredients well (it should be crumbly). Sprinkle the oat mixture over the fruit mixture.

3. Bake the crisp in a preheated 375º F oven for 40 minutes or until the crisp is lightly browned. Let stand for 10 minutes before serving.

    REBENEWB:
The size of the pan doesn't matter. The smaller the pan the deeper the Fruit Crisp but as long as you divid it in 8 you will get the right serving size.
    I hope that helps. - 6/16/09

This is great with blueberries instead of raisins, almonds in place of walnuts, splenda instead of sugar ... and try whole wheat flour for those who need to avoid enriched flour. I took this to a picnic and it was a favorite! - 10/10/08

I use splenda instead of sugar and occasionally add dried cranberries instead of raisins--Very good. - 8/29/08

rinkrat, if you like this version and you made it and would make it again, why'd you rate it bad? Was that a mistake? - 6/17/08

you can also use maple and brown sugar instant oatmeal instead of the oats, sugar and cinnamon. Weight control is a bigger packet for the same calories. - 4/1/09

Was a nice light dessert. You could use a little low-fat cream on the top to make it special. - 3/21/09

This is an excellent recipe, been making it for yrs! I made this for Thanksgiving this year and used brown sugar and whole wheat flour...works just as well, gives it a richer flavor and, of course, is healthier. - 12/10/08

Quick and easy recipe - delicious (I substituted baking splenda for the sugar and I Can't Believe It's Not Butter for the butter) but I would peel the apples the next time I make it - 11/19/07

This was good but it was a small portion for the calories and the topping was a bit dry. - 4/9/11

A very wholesome dessert. I made it for the first time for Thanksgiving so I had a special something after dinner instead of pumpkin pie. It's very good and I thoroughly enjoyed it! - 12/6/09

What is the size of the "shallow" baking dish being used? If you do not know that, then you do not know the serving size of this dish. - 6/16/09
