Simply Spiced Apple Cider

Ingredients

1 large orange 3 whole cloves 3 cups fresh orange juice 2 quarts unsweetened apple juice or apple cider1/4 cup raisins1 cinnamon stick
1. Peel the skin from the orange leaving the bitter white pith behind.
2. Stick the cloves into the skin.
3. Squeeze the juice from the orange and add to the orange juice.
4. Place all ingredients into a large nonreactive pan and bring to a boil over high heat.
5. Remove from heat, cover and allow to stand at least 30 minutes to allow flavors to blend. Serve warm or cold.
Makes 12 (1 cup) servings.

This drink is called Wassel.We usually fix it in the winter months and holidays.
A member asked what a non-reactive pan was.This would be stainless steel,non-stick or enamel coated cookware.I prefere to fix mine in a crock pot.I usually fix a large batch,strain and store in fridge,micro as desired. - 3/28/09
