This drink is called Wassel. We usually fix it in the winter months and holidays.
A member asked what a non-reactive pan was. This would be stainless steel,non-stick or enamel coated cookware.I prefere to fix mine in a crock pot.I usually fix a large batch, strain and store in fridge, micro as desired. - 3/28/09

I thought it was great! But since I don't like cloves, I did'nt use any. Instead I used 1/2 of a fresly grated Nut meg.And I used golden raisins then finished by following the rest of the recipe. Do let it steep for at least 3 hours. I like it warm or hot mixed with herbal teas. - 4/30/09

A reactive pan would be aluminum or copper, hope this helps! - 7/15/08

This is not apple cider, it's a very good recipe for wassail. You can add a little brandy to your mug when you're feeling under the weather. Would be interesting to see some member recipes for real mulled cider and hot toddies. Oh, and I make mine in a glass pot. - 12/16/10

Haven't tried this yet - but sounds really good - think i will try using craisins in it instead of raisins - give it a little tang that way - 12/16/10
