Ingredients
Beef, round steak, 1.33 lb Publix Pearled Barley, 0.5 cup Celery, raw, 1 cup, diced Onions, raw, 1 medium (2-1/2" dia) choppedPotatoes Red Med., 3 serving cubedBaby Carrots, raw, 8 large diced or slicedPortabella Mushrooms, 200 grams slicedSwanson Beef Broth less sodium fat free, ( 1 14oz can)
Directions
makes 12 - 1.5 cup servings

Cut beef into small cubes and brown

Place all ingredients plus 2 cups water into roaster an cook at 275 deg. 2 and half hours.
I serve with Whole Wheat Bread

    I made this in a crock pot and put all my ingredients in together and let it cook for about 5 hours on high. Lets just say it didnt turn out very well. The barley got mushy, which I guess is my fault as I should have waited until the end to put it in. - 7/19/08

    With only 2 cups water and 14oz additional liquid this cannot be 12 servings. There is not even enough liquid in this to cook the barley sufficiently. Barley takes a while & considerable liquid to cook. Sounds good, but I'm going to cook my barley first tehn add it to recipe. - 6/9/08
