We added some pecans, and it was very good! Nice to see a recipe with all whole-wheat flour. - 8/7/11

Really enjoyed this. I added some chopped dates and chopped walnuts along with 1 tbsp of wheat germ and 1 tbsp of flaxseed... my husband hates banana but enjoyed this. He did know immediately I made it with whole wheat but said it was good anyway! (I have yet to sneak a whole wheat anything past him - 7/8/10

This turned out delicious! I added 3 packets of Truvia because my family has a huge sweet tooth. I also substituted whole wheat pastry flour for the whole wheat flour and it gave it a really smooth fluffy texture. Thanks for the wonderful recipe!! - 12/12/09

I substituted orange juice for the honey and applesauce for the oil. I also added some ground flax seed and sprinkled the batter with extra cinnamon and nutmeg before baking. I love this recipe - it's a heavy bread, but delicious and filling - a small piece goes a long way!!! - 8/22/09

Yum! I added walnuts, too. A quick, healthy recipe and a perfect use for those bananas on their way out. I'll make this again. - 6/17/09

YUM! I used agave nectar in place of honey, and added about 1/2 cup of chocolate chips for a little added sweetness. I also modified it for high altitude by adding about 2 tbsp extra flour and cooking the muffins about 17 minutes. - 5/14/09

It's a good flavor for such a healthy recipe. The whole wheat is very apparent & It was just sweet enough. I left the bananas a bit chunky, so there were bites of carmelized bananas throughout. I sub'd the oil for unsweetened applesauce to cut some fat and didn't recognize the difference. - 8/21/11

Delicious! Made them just as the recipe called and added 1/2 cup of walnuts and an extra banana (they were going bad). Muffins took about 20 minutes to cook. Not as dense as I expected from other comments, similar to my typical banana bread recipe. - 7/28/11

Muffins are in the oven! Thx to earlier comments, I used agave, pastry flour & apple sauce, and added chopped walnuts & some splenda brown sugar blend.

If you think it's not flavorful enough, banana extract should help. Sadly, I couldn't find mine. :-(

    These are FABULOUS! - 1/3/11

Made this recipe into muffins and they were yummy. I had to cook at least 10 minutes longer though. - 5/11/10

I love banana bread so I thought this would be good. It could have been my fault though because I substituted molasses for the honey based on another comment. It had a wierd aftertaste and I ended up throwing the whole batch away. Also, it seemed a little too dense. I might try again with honey. - 7/20/09

I'll try this, and stir in 1 T vinegar just before baking... to see if that lightens it up a bit. - 6/17/09

I made this as a loaf, and it is AMAZING! I did it according to recipe and it turned out really well, nice banana flavor and would be good with walnuts added in too! Tasty! - 4/1/09

these are very good. I'm not a big fan of honey normally but in these is was great. I too made the muffins, next time I will make the bread and add walnuts. Next time I make the muffins I'll throw in a few chocolate chips. - 3/21/09

My bread didn't turn out very 'bread-like'. It tasted good, but was very heavy and flat. I still ate it all because it did taste good and it was all healthy ingredients, just wish it was lighter. - 2/27/09

The molasses I substituted for the honey gave these a rich brown color. The flax seeds add a nice healthy crunch. I enjoyed these muffins as a hearty and low-guilt snack, but I wish the banana flavor was more prominent.
