sodium is way too high for a single serving - do not use the packet of taco seasoning. Use some cumin, crushed red pepper flakes, cliantro and chili powder - great flavor - no added salt. - 11/6/08

Looks like a great recipe idea - I think I agree with the black beans, throw a couple tablespoons of yellow corn and diced bell pepper and you have a true "sante fe" turkey taco salad treat!!! - 8/30/08

Wash the beans before using them, takes a lot of the sodium out of the recipe! - 8/30/08

I see people rating this "bad" due to sodium content....but is that a fair rating? How does this TASTE?? - 4/20/10

I make this but without the beans and the taco seasoning, I just use more salsa. I usually eat 10 cups of Romaine, 10 oz of turkey, 2 oz of spicy blue corn chips, 2 oz of 2% cheese and 14 tbsp of salsa. Mix everything but meat, cook meat then add last usually on top of the salsa and mix it in. - 11/21/08

I used ff cheese, the lowest sod chips I could find. I also subituted my own sauce. Lemon Juice, chili powder, chili peppers and tad low sod soy to make my own chili sauce it was great w/ a dab of ff sour cream. First time I have ever enjoyed ground turkey. Also good on top of a small baked potatoe. - 3/21/09

I make my own taco seasoning and keep it in an empty spice jar, way less sodium. Look for seasoning recipes on the web. Salad sounds good but I agree, too much sodium. - 4/20/10

add some chili powder, cayenne pepper, garlic powder or fresh garlic, even better, to the turkey when you're browning it, gives it really awesome flavor. - 11/7/08

This was wonderful. I made it with the suggestions for the seasonings instead of using taco seasoning (too much salt for us), but it was soooo good. - 11/14/08

I have been using ground Turkey and Boca Crumbles for a few years instead of regular hamburg meat. I also use the low sodium Taco seasoning mix. - 11/7/08

Sounds delicious. However, I would add Salt-Free Tortilla chips instead of the regular ones to lower the overall sodium content of this yummy recipe for us folks that are counting our sodium intake. Ole!

Get the low salt, low fat tortilla chips, or make your own baked chips--you control the both! - 4/20/10
