Granola Bar Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ingredients
1/4 c. softened butter1/3 c. unsweetened apple sauce1 c. packed brown sugar1 T. honey2 eggs1 tsp. vanilla1 1/2 c. whole wheat flour1 T. ground flax seed1 tsp. baking soda1 tsp. cinnamon1/2 tsp. salt2 1/2 c. quick-cooking oats1/2 c. wheat germ1/2 c. chopped walnuts1 c. dark chocolate chips
Directions
1. Heat oven to 350
2. Beat butter, apple sauce, sugar, and honey until creamy
3. Beat in eggs and vanilla
4. Add flour, baking soda, cinnamon, flax seed, and salt and mix well
5. Mix in oats and wheat germ
6. Gently stir in walnuts and chocolate chips until well blended
7. Drop by rounded tsp. onto a cookie sheet covered with baking paper
8. Bake 10 minutes or until golden brown
9. Cool on a cooling rack


These cookies freeze very well and are delicious to eat straight from the freezer. I hope you enjoy!
