the name is Indian: Daliya . And like many foods that are world popular this is basically "cream of wheat" just using the whole gain. And from scratch.
Bulgar is cooked whole grain wheat. - 8/29/09

I make this savory Indian style like Upma with peas, carrots, beans, tomatoes, etc. For seasoning we use 1tsp mustard seeds, 1tsp split, peeled black gram, chopped green chilies and garnish with cilantro. Just wonder what is Indian about this recipe? - 8/24/09

I add 1measure Split Green Peas with 1 measure of Daliya ,oil & lot of vegetables. I add Spice( Cumin Powder, Turmeric Powder, Red Chilli Powder, 1-2 Green Chili, Garam Masala) & 1 Tomato for Sourness. Mix all above ingredients and cook it using pressure cooker for 7-8 min on medium heat.

Is cracked wheat and bulgar the same thing? How much is 1 serving? 1 cup? - 8/24/09

Lori asked how long it will take to cook. You cook cracked wheat/bulgar the same way you cook rice. It's a great and healthier substitute. - 8/24/09
