Introduction

These lovely simple scones are from Alice Waters' "The Art of Simple Food". As with any food, the secret is not to diminish the quality of the ingredients, but rather to eat small portions. Ingredients

    Flour, white, all-purpose, unenriched, 2 cups
    1/2 tsp salt
    2.5 tsp baking powder
    Granulated Sugar, .25 cup
    Half and Half Cream, 1.5 cups
    Raisins, .5 cup
    Granulated Sugar, 3 tsp

Directions

Mix dry ingredients, pour in the cream and mix lightly with a wooden spoon, add the raisins and just mix. Drop spoonfuls on parchment paper or a silicone mat on a baking sheet. Sprinkle with sugar. Bake at 400 F for 17 minutes or until golden Makes 16 scones.
