Banana Oatmeal Cookies

Ingredients
3/4 cup shortening1 cup brown sugar1 egg, beaten1 1/2 cups flour1/2 tsp baking soda1 tsp cinnamon1/4 tsp nutmeg1 cup mashed banana1 3/4 cup oatmeal, uncookedoptional: raisins, nuts, wheat germ, sunflower seeds, grated orange peel
Directions
Cream shortening with sugar, add the egg, and mix well. Mix flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and nutmeg together and add to creamed mixture. Blend until smooth. Add mashed banana and oatmeal next. Blend. Add in optional ingredients as desired. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto a greased cookie sheet and bake at 400 degrees for 12 - 15 minutes.
