2 lbs ground beef (recipe is calculated with 1 lb ground beef and 1 lb ground turkey)29 oz kidney beans29 oz pinto beans29 oz tomato sauce1 cup onion, diced1/2 cup green chile, diced1/4 cup celery, diced3 medium tomatoes, chopped2 teaspoons cumin powder3 tablespoons chili powder1 1/2 teaspoons black pepper2 teaspoons salt2 cups water
Brown the ground meat in a skillet and drain fat. Using a fork, crumble the cooked meat. In a large pot, combine beef/turkey and remaining ingredients and bring to a simmer over low heat. Cook, stirring every 15 minutes for 30 minutes.

I followed the recipe to the letter and it tastes really great. I love spicey foods so next time I may add one or two jalapeno peppers. But even without the heat this is some of the best chilli I have ever eaten and by far the best I ever made. This was a very simple recipe to follow also a plus!!!! - 1/13/10

I found this recipe online a while back and have been making it ever since. It's really good. One of the reasons I like it so much is that you don't have to use one of those packaged chili mixes, you actually use chili powder! You can control the salt that way. Thanks for posting! - 11/20/08

I made half of the recipe with extra lean ground beef. Instead of chiles and celery I used one half of a green pepper diced up. I used no salt added tomato sauce instead of tomatoes. I also used the lowest sodium I could on the beans and tomato sauce. My husband loved it too. It tasted great! - 11/14/20
