I added red wine vinegar and garlic as per other comments, and then added some fresh basil out of my garden. A great red sauce recipe. - 7/16/09

Made this as written -- Oh. My. Word. It was SPICY!!! The red pepper flakes totally overwhelmed the sauce -- it became more like a spicy taco sauce or enchilada sauce! (I don't like to waste food.) I like spicy food, but this was just TOO much!! Try substituting parsley instead for a great marinara - 4/18/12

Really great!! So much better and more fresh than in a jar! The honey was surprising but brought so much flavor! Big fan - thanks so much for sharing! - 2/20/11

Easy to make (other than dicing so much onion!) and it smells great all day (crock pot!). The whole family likes it. This replaced sauce that was 140 cal / half cup. Skipped the pepper flakes, and added garlic and red wine vinegar, after reading the other comments. Great on broccoli, too. - 1/3/11

This recipe is great. I did add garlic to it because we love garlic. I did not add the red pepper flakes because my two year old does not like heat. Very yummy :) - 10/18/10

Very good! Don't like spicy, so omitted the pepper flakes. Excellent addition to chicken parmesan! - 6/1/10

A half tsp of red pepper flakes? You've got to be kidding. I cut it in half and my dh said that was very salsa like (with the heat). Red pep should not be dominating the tomatoes. - 8/10/09
