These are quite good, but I recommend eliminating the water and slightly increasing the peanut butter and honey instead. I found the water gave it a weird gumminess and I liked it much better without, and you can also skip heating it. Also very good with a little ground flax seed or puréed raisins. - 12/30/12

Love it...love it...love it! Simple and easy to make. I used 6 TBSP of water, crunchy PB and omitted the cocoa. However, I added ground cinnamon and red pepper to give it a little kick. I am a chocoholic and this is perfect for those cravings. Next time I will add the cocoa powder. - 12/2/12

I used vanilla whey powder, no cocoa, extra vanilla. These are good and just what I needed for my peanut butter loving kid who needs more protein. (I used a larger pan and cut them into 32 squares. Seems a more reasonable size for a kid.) - 2/10/12

One of the best protein bar recipes! I took a lot of the other members advice and increased the water actually to 6 tbsp & used Agave! Highly recommend. Next time I think I'll try chunky peanut butter!

Happily surprised! I am excited to replace my processed protein bar with this recipe. It is delicious and filling. Changes made: 4Twater, 2T honey, substituted almond butter for peanut butter. Can't wait to try some more variations (add vanilla flavor, different nut butters, etc.) - 7/26/12

Delicious and easy. We used chocolate whey powder and omitted the cocoa. I had to use 5 Tbsp water to make them hold. Thanks for the great recipe! - 5/9/09

I added shredded coconut for texture and crushed Cracklin Oat Bran cereal for crunch and fiber. I had to add a few more teaspoons of water. I also use Xagave instead of honey. One bar was very filling. I like it and it yields a lot. - 12/18/10

I liked the fact that there wasn't a lot of ingredients and that it was fairly easy 2 make. The 1st time I made these, I used the 9x9 pan but it was sorta messy when I wud cut...and I also learned that they shud b KEPT REFRIGERATED!!!!! This time around I used a tin foil muffin pan which is better. - 7/23/12

These taste great, are easy to make, and are very portable. When I make a batch, after chilling I cut them into the 12 servings and put each in sandwich baggies and leave in the front of the refrigerator. Then we can each grab one on the way out in the mornings and eat on the go! - 1/19/13

This protein bar was a BIG hit with my family! Reminded all of us of no-bake chocolate oatmeal cookies. Great way to get more protein in our diets. - 12/30/12

These are very good. I think I added more water than called for just to get the final 'dough' a bit more workable. There is none of that 'yucky' protein powder taste. I did use the cocoa and even sprinkled a little coffee in. - 5/7/13

I found this recipe to be very easy & simple to make. I didn't have any all natural peanut butter so I used Skippy which was all I had. I ended up using 6 tablespoons of water but other than that change it turned out awesome. I've made protein bars before and the taste was off but this is wonderful. - 1/30/13

Super impressed! My kids love these as much as me, which is awesome because they could all stand to eat more fiber and protein. Will be making these again soon! - 5/9/12

I use "Rich Double Chocolate" Gold Standard Whey by Optimum Nutrition. Mmmmm!

Absolute yum! I used agave, 5 tbsp water and added 3 tbsp of walnuts. Only negative: they are smaller than a store-bought bar and so deelish that they make me want to eat two! But they do satisfy once you get past that initial desire. - 9/23/12

Wow, these are nicely textured and moist (used 4 T water)! I didn't have chocolate powder, so I subbed in strawberry-banana powder and added in the optional cocoa powder. Tastes just like a PB&J sandwich - yummy!! Will definitely make again...many times. - 7/8/12

I just made these - took no time! I heated only the honey (because it had hardened in the container). I pressed the mixture into a 9 x 9 pan, divided it into 12 squares with my rubber spatula and put the pieces into a tupperware container separated with plastic. No water, and they held together well - 1/30/13

If you use PB2 reconstituted (8 serv of PB2 = 360 cal and makes 1 Cup peanut butter) instead of regular peanut butter (1 Cup = 1515 cal) you save 1155 cal for the recipe or about 96 calories per bar. That substitution brings these to about 125 cal each. Adjust sugar to taste. - 9/3/16

These are good...but I think due to my protein powder I had to use quite a bit more water, I also didn't have natural peanut butter so I used Jif. I didnt' use the cocoa. They were fantastic!!! - 1/30/13

Very tasty! This was really easy for those who do not like to or are learning to cook. I used 6TBSP water and they were still a bit dry, but the recipe says they should be crumbly. Taste was really good and rich! I used melted 90% cocoa square instead of unsweetened cocoa because that's what I had. - 12/28/12

I had to make it without whey powder. As my oats were running low and my cholesterol is high, I replaced most of the oats with oat bran, and put in a little milk kefir instead of water. Tastes OK. Is now in the freezer to cool down. I may cut it smaller and use it as chocolates.Cld hv added nuts - 12/27/12
  • VANELDIK
I think this is too dry -- I use 1/4 c of honey and it is perfect - 8/13/09
