Ingredients

1 1/4 cup warm water
1 1/2 tsp salt
2 TB honey
1 1/2 cup bread flour
1 1/2 cup whole wheat flour
2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
boiling water
2 TB sugar
1 TB cornmeal
1 egg white beaten
Directions
Place all ingredients in bread machine pan starting with yeast, then honey,flours, salt and water. Set machine on dough cycle and start. If dough forms into a ball in the first couple of minutes shut the lid and let go. if there is any flour not incorporated add a quarter of a tsp hot water at a time until dough is a stiff ball.
When cycle is complete remove dough from pan and form into a long cylinder. Cut into 10 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a ball and poke a hole in the middle. set each bagel on a lightly greased baking pan and let rise in a warm place for 20 minutes.
While bagels are rising boil water in a medium saucepan. Add 2 TB sugar to water and dissolve. Boil each bagel one or two at a time for a minute, turning halfway through. Set bagels on an ungreased sheet pan sprinkled lightly with cornmeal.Brush each bagel with beaten egg white. Bake at 375 F for 22 minutes until golden.
