Am I the only person who's confused by the photo? It looks like it shows carrots and some kind of dressing that don't appear to be included in the recipe. The reviews all seem to be very good, so I'm sure this is delicious, but what's up with the photo? - 3/2/13

This was delicious! Used only 1 tsp of oil (avocado oil) and extra red pepper flakes since we like foods spicy. I also subbed yellow onion for red since DH doesn't like red onion. Sauteed til some pieces were nice and brown. Also omited salt. Definite make again. Thanks!! - 3/18/10

One of my absolute favorite recipes, ever! WE eat this often, and it goes with almost anything. Sometimes we eat it over red beans and rice, sometimes we just pair it with chicken or lean pork. - 1/26/10

Had a bag of sliced cabbage salad with carrots added a little kosher salt and cooked it up with the other ingredients. Very tasty! - 2/5/11

this is good! I added some red, yellow and orange bell peppers for color and grated a few carrots for sweetness. - 4/22/10

This is a great way to cook cabbage without stinking up the house. I did back off on the salt. I severed this with a smoked beef brisket and it was an instant hit. I will definitely serve this again. - 1/26/14

Made this tonight in a large frying pan. I used yellow sweet onion and diced half a red pepper, no flakes. Used sea salt and coarse ground pepper. Added 14 oz of turkey sausage links cut into 2 oz portions. They heated nicely as the cabbage cooked. Yes, keeper. - 1/28/13

I omitted the salt, and thought this was pretty good as written. I decided to add some carrots to cook with the onion (which I basically tripled...love onions), and was glad I did. The carrots added a really nice flavor. Excellent and easy way to fix cabbage! - 7/20/12

The best way I have found to eat cabbage! Limit the red pepper for those that don't like spicy foods as this can be a bit spicy as is. - 3/20/12

Added a can of corned beef when I sauteed the onions...made a complete meal! - 1/31/11

WOW! Who would think something so simple would be so tasty. The red pepper flakes totally made it. My kids even ate this up. I am making again tonight! I am going to shake in a little sesame oil with it and serve with teriyaki chicken. Delish! - 10/8/09

I was introduced to the fatty version: you add bacon with the onions first, then add .75c water when adding the cabbage. This is a nice healthy alternative. - 11/4/11

For some protein, top it off with some low fat cottage cheese. It sounds weird but it is de-lish!! - 1/12/08

It does look like a cole slaw type of dish and not something sauteed.

The photo is just a stock photo used--I hate when they do that!
I fry a piece of bacon and use that instead of olive oil--yummo! - 4/3/17

Very good - this recipe is one you can change up as you like---add carrots or turkey sausage for a main course. We love onions so I doubled the amount and added grated carrots. - 4/28/14
