4 peeled frozen bananas, sliced

Directions

Place frozen bananas in the bowl of a food processor. Pulse several times to break into smaller pieces, then turn on and run for about five minutes, stopping occasionally to scrape down the sides of the bowl. The bananas will start to resemble soft serve in a few minutes. Transfer to a bowl and place in freezer for about 15 minutes, if you'd like, or serve immediately.

I topped mine with a tablespoon of pure maple syrup mixed with 2 t dark cocoa powder (calories not included).

I needed something for desert for a small dinner party. I did not have time to go to the store but had frozen bananas for banana bread. I added almond extract and a little vanilla. It was FABULOUS!! This is an amazing recipe! So far, I've tried it plain and blended with frozen raspberries. The combinations are endless!

Before I freeze the bananas, I cut them into chunks. I found that the mixture gets a bit 'dry', so I add a bit of water to help with the blending.

Haven't tried this recipe yet, but I've been using frozen bananas for years for nutritional shakes. HINT: Freeze bananas in their own skin for convenience, then zap on high in microwave for 20 seconds just before using.

Frozen peaches should do wonderfully for ice cream too. - 8/17/09

Right after whipping the texture of this would be excellent for using as a whipped topping for fruit. I also used silicone muffin cups to make uniform size/shape portions to top with strawberries and pineapple after refreezing, this gives a great substitute for a banana split. - 7/27/09

I peel, slice and put each banana in a baggie and toss into the freezer , then presto, on a moments notice ice cream,(if you lay them flat in baggie, they don't clump together) and separate easily, not rough on food processor that way, either. - 2/7/10

Add a dash of lemon juice, orange juice, or lime juice to help prevent the browning and each juice gives it's own flavor. lime and banana goes good after mexican food. orange and banana mix nicely with berries. lemon and banana with some vanilla and some cool whip is dreamy. - 2/10/10

I thought this sounded great, but I tried it & it did nothing for me. It tasted just like mashed bananas, even when I tried some of the other options people mentioned. If you freeze it for more than 15 mins (leftovers) it becomes hard as a rock & doesn't unthaw very well. - 7/28/09

Great fun! Be sure to freeze peeled and chunked or even sliced banana. I am not a big ice cream person at home.. I try not to buy it at all. So this is a nice single serving option to make as needed. And easy way to make use out of bananas about to go bad, just peel and freeze. - 7/27/09
